What Are Offers on Drip?

On Drip, offers give buyers and sellers a way to negotiate instead of only using the fixed “Buy Now” or cart checkout system. An offer allows you to propose your own terms—this might include sending cash, trading vaulted items you already own, or combining both. Once you make an offer, the seller reviews your proposal and can either accept, decline, or counter with their own terms.

Offers apply to both vaulted and non-vaulted items, but the process differs slightly depending on the type of item:

  • Vaulted items: These are already stored securely in Drip’s Vault. When an offer is accepted, the item transfers instantly to your Vault—no shipping, no waiting, and no handling required. Ownership is updated immediately in your account. This makes trading and negotiation much smoother, because both sides know the item is verified and ready to move.

  • Non-vaulted items: These are items the seller still physically holds. If your offer is accepted, the seller needs to ship the item to you just like a normal checkout purchase. While the offer system gives you room to negotiate the price or terms, fulfillment for non-vaulted items still depends on the seller sending it.

When creating an offer, you can approach it in different ways:

  • Cash-only offers: You propose paying a different amount than the listed price. For example, instead of paying $20, you might offer $15. The seller can decide whether to accept or not.

  • Item-for-item offers: If you own vaulted inventory, you can trade one of your vaulted items for the one you want. Because both items are in the Vault, ownership updates instantly when the deal goes through.

  • Cash plus item offers: If your item doesn’t cover the full value, you can combine it with cash. For instance, offering a card worth $10 plus $5 cash toward a $15 item.

It’s important to note that once you make an offer, the item is no longer in your cart. It moves to your Offers page, where you can track its status. This is because an item cannot be in both checkout and an active negotiation at the same time. From the Offers page, you’ll see pending offers, accepted ones, declined ones, and any counters made by the seller. You’ll also get updates in your Drip inbox so you don’t miss changes.

For buyers, offers create flexibility. You don’t always need to pay the listed price—you can negotiate, trade your vaulted inventory, or make creative proposals that work for both sides.

For sellers, offers invite more engagement and can lead to sales that might not have happened otherwise. Whether vaulted or non-vaulted, the offer system makes negotiation a built-in part of the Drip experience.
