Updated July 2025 for Compliance with Stripe's Prohibited & Restricted Businesses Policy

Drip allows sellers to enhance buyer engagement by using interactive, stream-based selling formats that add visual or thematic elements to product fulfillment. However, starting August 1, 2025, all interactive formats must adhere to updated rules regarding payment processing compliance and customer protection. This guide outlines how game-style selling can be presented safely and transparently on Drip.

What Is Game-Style Selling?

Game-style formats include things like “Duck Races,” “Pull Games,” or “Wheel Spins,” where sellers introduce an element of entertainment into the sales process. These experiences are designed to visualize fulfillment — not replace it.

Key compliance requirements:

  • Every purchase must result in a guaranteed shipped product.

  • No sale may be based on "chance" or involve randomized outcomes without confirmed product delivery.

  • Games must not imply gambling, sweepstakes, or prize mechanics that offer uncertain or selective rewards.

Duck Race Format

A duck race is a themed visualization used by some sellers to display product fulfillment orders in a fun way. Each duck in the race corresponds to a buyer’s confirmed purchase. The race itself is purely visual — not a determinant of who receives what.

Compliance Requirements

  • Each participant must receive a shipped product, regardless of their position in the animation.

  • Variations in the item received (e.g., different card tiers) are allowed only if all participants receive product of comparable value or clearly disclosed variance.

  • No buyer can be left without a shipment or product, regardless of race outcome.

What to Expect as a Buyer

  • You select the number of items you wish to purchase (each tied to a duck).

  • Your order is fulfilled and shipped, with tracking information provided.

  • The visual "race" serves as an entertainment element only.

Pull Game Format

Pull games involve choosing cards or items from a stack, box, or board, often live during a stream. The item pulled represents the product the buyer will receive.

Compliance Requirements

  • Each pull must result in a confirmed item being shipped.

  • There must be no “empty pulls” or non-fulfillment scenarios.

  • The product structure must be clearly described, including what range of items are available.

What to Expect as a Buyer

  • You purchase a pull, which corresponds directly to a product.

  • The seller reveals the item live during the stream.

  • The product is shipped to you with tracking information.

Wheel Spin Format

In a wheel spin format, each section of the wheel corresponds to a different product. Buyers pay for a guaranteed spin, and the item indicated by the spin is what they receive.

Compliance Requirements

  • Every spin must result in a guaranteed, specific product that is shipped.

  • Sellers must not offer spins for “a chance” at a prize — each spin is a form of product selection, not gambling.

  • All outcomes must be clearly shown and reflected in what is shipped.

What to Expect as a Buyer

  • You pay for a product tied to a wheel spin.

  • The spin determines which item is shipped to you.

  • You receive tracking information once the product is fulfilled.

Platform-Wide Policy Enforcement (Effective August 1, 2025)

To maintain compliance with Stripe and ensure buyer protection, Drip is implementing the following changes:

  • Sellers may not list or promote any game-based product offering that does not guarantee a shipped item.

  • Game-like formats must be completed within the livestream session; rescheduling or holding games for later resolution is prohibited.

  • Language suggesting randomness, prizes, “hits and misses,” or gambling will be flagged and removed.

  • In-store pickup options may be removed to ensure traceable shipment and fulfillment.

  • Buyers must receive tracking data for all purchases.

Guidance for Buyers

  • Review the stream and product details before purchasing.

  • Only participate in formats where a product is explicitly guaranteed.

  • Reach out to the seller with any questions before the purchase.

  • Contact Drip Support if you believe your product was not shipped.
