When you participate in an auction, a $10 pre-authorization hold is placed on your payment method. This hold is applied as soon as you place your first bid, ensuring your payment method is valid and capable of processing transactions.

Here’s how it works:

  • Amount of the Hold: The pre-authorization hold is a fixed amount of $10.

  • Timing: The hold is placed immediately after your first bid in the auction. This applies to all bidders, regardless of the amount they bid.

The hold is not a charge; it simply reserves $10 on your card until the auction ends:

  • If you win the auction: The held amount is released and applied toward your final payment.

  • If you don’t win: The hold is automatically lifted, and the reserved amount becomes available in your account again.
