OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a powerful and free tool used by streamers to create high-quality live streams. It allows you to control what your viewers see by setting up Scenes and adding Sources like your camera, media files, or screens. This guide will help you set up OBS to stream directly to Drip using the Virtual Camera feature.

What is OBS?

OBS Studio is an open-source software that allows you to:

  • Capture your video from a webcam or camera device.

  • Stream pre-recorded videos or media files.

  • Share your computer screen for unboxing, reveals, or tutorials.

  • Create a more professional stream by combining multiple sources into one feed.

On Drip, using OBS can significantly improve the production value of your streams.

Step 1: Install OBS Studio

  1. Download OBS Studio from the official website: https://obsproject.com/.

  2. Install and launch the software.

Step 2: Understand Scenes and Sources in OBS

Scenes

A Scene represents the layout of what your viewers will see. For example:

  • Scene 1: Your facecam + background image.

  • Scene 2: Your product + chat overlay.

You can switch between these scenes during your stream.

Sources

Sources are the different elements that make up a scene. These could include:

  • Video Capture Device: Your webcam or camera feed.

  • Media Source: A pre-recorded video or background music.

  • Image: Any image like your brand logo or custom background.

  • Window Capture: Share a specific application or window from your computer.

Step 3: Add Your Sources

  1. Open OBS Studio.

  2. In the Sources box (at the bottom), click the + (plus) button.

  3. Select the source you want to add:

1. Add Video Capture Device (Your Camera)

  • Click Video Capture Device.

  • Name it "Camera" and click OK.

  • Choose your webcam from the Device dropdown.

  • Adjust the size by dragging the edges.

2. Add Media Source (Video or Audio)

  • Click Media Source.

  • Name it "Background Music" or "Pre-recorded Video."

  • Browse and select the media file from your computer.

  • Adjust settings if necessary.

3. Add Image (Logo or Background)

  • Upload any image like your brand logo or a background image.

  • Resize it to fit the canvas.

4. Add Window Capture (Specific Window)

  • Click Window Capture.

  • Select any open application (like a browser, game, or folder) to share that specific screen.

  • Resize or reposition the window capture as needed.

Step 4: Use Virtual Camera to Stream to Drip

The Virtual Camera feature in OBS allows you to output everything you’ve set up in OBS as your camera feed. Drip will then treat this feed like a regular webcam feed.

Turn On Virtual Camera

  1. In OBS, go to the Controls panel on the right.

  2. Click Start Virtual Camera.

  3. Now, everything you see in OBS is being streamed as a "camera feed."

Step 5: Connect OBS to Drip

  1. Open the Drip app and start a stream.

  2. When selecting your camera, choose OBS Virtual Camera.

  3. This will stream whatever is currently displayed in your OBS scene.

  4. You can switch between scenes in OBS, and your viewers on Drip will see those changes live.

Pro Tip: Managing Audio in OBS

  • Ensure your microphone is set up under Audio Input Capture.

  • Adjust your audio levels in the Audio Mixer at the bottom.

  • If you’re using background music, lower its volume to avoid overpowering your voice.

Step 6: Final Adjustments and Going Live

  • Test your setup by clicking Start Virtual Camera.

  • Go to Drip and start your live stream using OBS Virtual Camera.

  • Engage with your audience as you normally would — now with a high-quality production setup!

Why Should You Use OBS with Drip?

✅ Higher-quality video and audio production.
✅ Ability to add overlays, images, and transitions.
✅ Smooth switching between different scenes (camera, screen, pre-recorded video).
✅ Ability to queue content before showing it to the audience.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • No video showing on Drip? Make sure your Virtual Camera is turned on in OBS.

  • Audio not working? Ensure your Audio Input Capture is set to your microphone.

  • Video delay? Adjust the resolution and frame rate in Settings > Video.

Using OBS with Drip can make your streams look significantly more professional and engaging. Once you get comfortable setting up scenes and sources, you'll have full creative control over your live streams!
